The hurtful real-life scene.

A week ago the lucky people who attended the BFI got to see the premiere of s3 ep1.

And something bad happened there.  I don't want you to take away "This was all bad" because our fellow fans are being supportive of the fic writer.  Because that's what fans do.

If you're on tumblr, do go add your support if you would.  Please.

[A few tumblr users have added comments, such as this comment and that one -- we have such a lovely cuddly fandom! -- and that comment and this apology from a fan (not C.M.) which curses very rightfully.]

[Remember...  Save your Semtex for Dear Jim!  He's got a monopoly in-universe, y'know.]

Anywhere people tell you nasty things about fans, about fan art, about fan fic, about fandom -- look 'em in the eye.

Say something like:  "Isn't there anything you love, that you're passionate about?  Something that may be a guilty pleasure, or maybe it's something no one you know personally can connect with.  Maybe you only have online friends who like it too.  Maybe you don't have anyone you know... anyone at all.

"How would you feel if you were in her place?"

We all have passions.  We're all learning.  Be as gentle as you can about teaching someone to behave better.

Apparently it is something we need to keep reminding people who don't love what we love.  We shouldn't have to, no -- but we will until they learn.

And have some Cumberhugs on me.  'Kay?
