Team SH / the Special.

I had to start with the Legos.  Because they're -- as Arthur would say -- BRILLIANT.  So this is a bit of a grab bag.  Enjoy!

SPOILERS EXIST after this point:  you have been warned.

The Special.... filming s4.

Sherlockology has an Advent Calendar for Sherlock -- and you can win it!  Follow their social media.  Details here.

If you love dogs, check out the Dogs Trust charity in the UK.  Amanda is one of the stars sponsoring saving dogs instead of stupid excuses -- not the valid ones people may have -- to dump pets.

The Special will be showing in Belgium, which is new... have you checked Sherlockology for where TAB is showing for you???  I'm seeing only 12 countries/territories listed.  If yours isn't, ping Sherlockology and ask!

Beware, some minor SPOILERS EXIST after this point.

YT and the Special!

All about the Special...

Well, all about how to locate and/or buy the Special... after these words from Team Sherlock, that is.  ;d  Plus more trailers -- because why not?  :D

*** Beware! spoilers for the Special are inside that trailer.  They were in costume. ***

Christmas and Team SH Tweets.

And because we can't stop thinking about our Christmas gift coming from the BBC...

Here's a trailer that is mildly spoilery for the special, using Mark's text (in second Tweet).

Team Sherlock (!) and Dr. Strange.

Actually, to sum up -- this is all Twittery and links which includes the Moff's award [go, Steven!] via Louis Moffat, plus Mark's interview, and then it's all Ben:  Little Favour, Dr. Strange, Hollow Crown's Richard III.

Mark Gatiss is interviewed by Tor.com... and it's a lot of fun, trust me!

And there's also new promo pictures of Ben as Richard III out.  They must be on tumblr -- and certainly on Twitter! -- 'cause I'm not finding them via Google.  8(  Apparently the gif and the pics are clipped from the trailer for the BBC's upcoming show lineup.

Awards: Ben's CBE! Moff's OBE.

Wayyyy too many Tweets... maybe a link or two as well.  ;b

The BBC on Honours, including CBE.  Ben's agency says "Congratulations to our newest "Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" (and no, I didn't know what CBE stood for either!).

Dramatic charity; more on the Special!

Dramatic Need 2015 site and its review on Cumberbatchweb.

Amanda notes in passing at Radio Times that filming s4 "will start in April" (the article is about her Tweeting, Martin's thoughts, and her new show Cuffs as well).

Everything else has spoilers to one extent or another and is about the Special.

Halloween candy: the Special!

Herein be spoilers, so if you are avoiding all news of the 2015 Sherlock episode, aka the Sherlock special, this would be a post to skip.  Entirely.

For the first time ever, PBS viewers and BBC viewers get to see Sherlock on the same day, i.e., New Year's Day 2016.  Mark your calendars, fandom!

There are some lovely pictures in that link, so I've added it for us all to savor.

As per usual, I will not spell out spoilers.  I'll mask spoilers here until probably late January and/or early February.

That's after this ep has come out, since not everyone gets to see every thing on the Interweb and the big screen at the same exact moment.

However, if you move past the cut, you have willingly entered into the land of spoilers.  Things Moffat has admitted up front, and/or things Mark has dropped via Twitter, and/or the rest of Team Sherlock, which includes crew, cast, and everyone else official.

Alas, poor Yorick...

A tale of Hamlet told in Tweets and links... well, and pictures.

Andrew's birthday; cons; VIDS; China!

Remember how they had some big shindig back in April 2015?  I found some videos of the guys there for us all to enjoy.

There you go, have some early Halloween candy.  :b

Team SH: Aug/Sept.

Xmas 2015 special: spoilers?!

Holy frijoles, it's been 29 days since my last post!

Apologies, dear fandom.  I've been ill, on deadlines, and other assorted chaos that masquerades as Life to distract one from the Interweb.

But hey, there is Sherlock candy for us all, so I'm back in time, so to speak.  Better'n cake, yes?

Amused... everyone from Variety to Tor Books are talking (Tweeting) about the new BBC Sherlock trailer.  Have you seen it yet?  Actually, there are TWO trailers.

This is the teeny 10-second vid... because the 1:30 [that's minute and seconds, sorry!] trailer follows the cut.

OTOH, you can rest assured that since I didn't see either til today, we're all frazzled.

Team Sherlock news... + Special.

Some Team Sherlock news for you after the cut.  :D  And a teeny snippet about the upcoming 2015 Sherlock special ep too.

Belated happy birthday to Martin!

Sorry to have missed this -- doing the post sooner, that is.  I didn't miss his birthday on Twitter, hence many RTs there; but then our Internet went down after supper...  oh well.

Reminder: actors are people too.

At CNN's Talk Asia:  What makes Benedict Cumberbatch 'monstrously uncomfortable'?

In Tweet below as well.

Sherlock stars Abbington and Freeman receive death threats in Cumberbatch Twitter storm... death threats from a bunch of people who are fools, because if you cannot criticize someone else without threats, there is something severely wrong.

Bad cess to the fools threatening not just Amanda and Martin, but also Tim Roberts; he lost his job.

Film and stage Tweets come after the cut.

Tweets onstage and elsewhere. :D

Here are bits of Hamlet, various members of Team Sherlock, various pics... pretty much a little smorgasbord.

I'll do a future post about NTL airing Hamlet for all of us what can't make it to London... later.  I promise.  Apologies for being gone -- two cons, new gig, car woes -- things have been crazy-busy.  Cumberhugs to you all!

Sherlock: 2015 Comic-Con teasers.

So yesterday we all survived Ben turning 39.  8D

Here be s4 SPOILERS!

Comic-Con has goodies for the 2015 Sherlock special.  Here's EW's first preview of that.  EW also has a post about everything you need to know before the Sherlock panel!

And more SPOILERS below the cut!  Not setlock, but someone leaked these.  Avoid if you are wanting to see the Sherlock special in all innocence.

What's happening today?

Well, it's Ben's 39th birthday.  Twitter -- and I expect the rest of the Interweb, whether or not you believe Radio Times (;b) -- is exploding with birthday wishes to Ben.

From a month ago--

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Pictures; one mild setlock.

Consider these images my birthday presents to you in Ben's name.  I know his birthday is 19-July -- happy birthday, proud new papa Benedict! -- but I'm not up on which new birthday charities are happening.  Alas.

You can always check the 2014 charities; some of them are ongoing.  Consider Batch of Kindness, for one...  And particularly ALS, as Ben's an ambassador for them and many many others!

Warning!  One setlock pic included from the 2015 Christmas special.  Not a major spoiler, but a nifty pic to be sure.

Image(s) of Team Sherlock. :)

This high one -- as the Penguins of Madagascar would say! -- is for you, my dears.  So patient with me as Real Life keeps interrupting my vital online time.  (It really has been, blast it.)

Recap, spring 2015.

Things that happened during that very busy weekend in April, i.e., 24-26 April:
I know someone's got other pictures of the Sherlocked con, but it's not me.  At least not today it's not.  :b

UnlockedCon:  Did you log in?  Did you have fun?  What did you do that weekend?

(I went to Penguicon and ran a Sherlocked! discussion.  Had a blast.  Wish you'd been there too, my dears.)

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Cons: media and SF.

Media*West Con and media cons: here's M-West's own history.

I've been to a few media cons.  Not a lot, mind you, just a couple.  Comic-Con 2007 is a media con -- and possibly Omegacon.  Plus there's M-West as of this weekend.  Unlike sf cons, to which I have attended oodles...

Some other time I'll talk about Omegacon 2008 (down in Birmingham, Alabama) and why it probably counted as a media/sf con.

(I'll do a little con report on M-West around month-end.  Should be good -- or great! So many SH panels makes me realize they must have a large contingent of Sherlockians, huzzah.

[ETA:  Or set of con reports, since I did post Fannish Friday already last weekend, out of vast enthusiasm.]

Really wish I could see oodles of you there! but M-West IS a smallish local con, sigh.)

Saturday, May 23, 2015

Fannish Friday...

... Or, I have an eyeball.

Went to first day of Media*West yesterday.  This is a local fan-run con [ETA with their FAQ for your info], no guests, just fans.  It's lovely.

Panels on BBC Sherlock, tiny fandoms, audio goodies (run by my boyfriend -- about podcasts, BBC Radio 4, etc.), Benedict Cumberbatch, and also the Sherlock party.

At the latter we played Cards Against Humanity, the Sherlock version.  Much hilarity and rudeness!

The hostess at the party brought me a [lavender] tumbler of water that had an eyeball in it.  Which I got to keep.

From blogger: "Short version: Not dead."

Hi, folks!  Sorry to have vanished. I went to Penguicon and came back with a new boyfriend, while having a deadline to clear away upon my return... and so the fan blog got neglected.  A lot.  8(

Apologies, as Mycroft would say -- but with more feeling.  ;d  Far more.

Nor have I been on Twitter that much either, my usual stomping ground for all things involving Team Sherlock.

More meta on s3, bit of s4.

I can't be the only one still hungry for speculation... right?   A few of the tumblr users -- whose meta I loved -- have gone dormant.  Final Problem said she's reluctantly speculating, but if you're watching her Moran posts, it looks like that's changed.  :)

About that missing actor's name [from Empty Hearse] and was his character apprehended -- or not?

And why wasn't he credited?  And... and... that elevator button.

(For more, use FP's tag; here's her original LONG intro-meta on Moran .)

Some HLV speculation about something I'd been wondering about, i.e, recreational meta from Three Patch Podcast.  Very pleased someone else had thought it through!

Easter candy -- chocolate, honest!

There is a 6-foot sculpture in chocolate of Benedict, per Good Housekeeping.  I am not making this up!  Apparently it isn't an April Fools Day joke either...

Methinks someone thought they could outdo Pei's Cumbercupcakes.  Of course not.

I finally saw Penglings!  Err... Penguins of Madagascar.  Twice.

Grab bag: April cons, vids, etc.

Fan vids!  You've missed them, you know.  ;)

Moonmouse did two silly ones that I like.  It took several watches before I stopped cracking up, in fact.

TMBG via Moonmouse!  Particle Man (Sherlock BBC) and Birdhouse In Your Soul (Sherlock and John + They Might Be Giants).

In the s3 spoiler zone:  liar | Sherlock BBC by Katrin Depp; also expect feels.

2015 Letters Live; vote for RT BAFTA!

Remember Letters Live?  Not only is Letters Live back -- and with Dear Bessie again too -- but Sunny March promises to tape it for us.

Per the Guardian, "Letters Live takes place from 31 March to 4 April and will raise money for literacy charities the Reading Agency, First Story and Ministry of Stories."

"Yours in distress" Benedict Cumberbatch reads Alan Turing's letter to Norman Routledge video... in character as Alan Turing.

Sherlock special 2015.

Interrupting your countdown to Christmas with this announcement.  For those who followed ANY of the setlock news, particularly on costumes and setting, part of this scoop won't be a spoiler to you.

Paraphrased version without spoilers:  So the Word of God is that the 2015 Special is AU of Sherlock.

No, really.  Only Mofftiss would make an alternate version of their own alternate version of Sherlock Holmes.

Fan vids; I Love Speedy's fan vid; Hamlet sale Monday!

Sherlock / Moriarty - When You're Evil by Sandy Quan

S1 and s2 with possible feels alert.  I was just amused by the song, which is very appropriate.  :D

These Boots I Made From You (Jim Moriarty + "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'") by MoonMouse... who has done other fan vids that I love, such as the Particle Man (Sherlock BBC) and "Birdhouse in Your Soul" fan vids.

A lovely instrumental (s1) vid that I adore:  Your Love Is My Drug - Sherlock by Lemon Swordfish

I've posted the latter several times too.

Also, if you're in London tomorrow, join the Baker Street Babes for this project!

Well, I certainly didn't know this!  I feel bad that I didn't wish David happy on his actual birthday (I found out a week or more later).

SH fandom petition; CP con and more!

Good things for Sherlock fandom and the fandot... or in the immortal words of the Firefly fandom:  Can't stop the signal.

First, a petition asking the BBC to put the Sherlock 2014 special ep on the big screen worldwide was started by German fans.

And there's a Cabin Pressure con in Berlin.

Wanna see how far this screening petition goes?

The second such con, in fact.  8)  Looks like it travels -- just like the lemon!

TGG and that painting.

Can we just take a moment to consider how LONG it took Dear Jim to plan The Great Game?

Painting an oil painting takes time.  Imitating a master -- in such a way to successfully complete a forged painting -- takes time too.  A considerable amount.  The little old man mentioned in the show had to adjust his style to properly imitate what he meant to paint.  He'd make some sample paintings.  It wouldn't be something that took a few days.

Doing a successful forgery is complicated.  For the purposes of the show, they did some handwaving over how experts would be testing a painting, researching it, comparing it to past paintings, etc.

(Okay, let's be honest, they did a LOT of handwaves.  Realistically any specialist would have looked at the artist, his life, and what he was reputed to paint, and they'd've known long before SH that it was a fake.)

Let alone the other things, like the bribes.  Sure, Jim probably invested a lot of bribes.  He couldn't bribe everyone.  But he could bribe enough people for a short-term scam to work out.  Sort of.

SH candy: Meta of s4 and s3.

Were you following the SH Spesh setlock when it got really spoilery?

No, I mean that, there's a point -- circa 30-Jan-15 as well as later -- when that happened.  It's possible these were done to fake us out.  But they looked like rather major plot spoilers.

Final Problem discussed this item at length here.

And cupidford has a visual compare/contrast to FP's post.

Before setlock, BTW... this always happens.  :D

Saturday, February 28, 2015

Scattered setlock.

It looks like Douglas is having a problem with the signs now that filming's over... while Ruther2 has figured out what WIM stands for [not!].

More Oscar candy...

Digital Spy has a transcript of Ben's video here.

EW has the backstory behind Graham Moore's acceptance speech for his TIG Oscar.

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Unlocked Con: free. :)

You can't make the Sherlocked con?  Nor can I.  Which applies to most of fandom, I expect.

But tumblr's Final Problem is hosting a free online party that same weekend, April 24-26.  You can still hang out with fellow fans at Unlocked: The Unofficial Sherlock PJ Party!

This is for ALL Sherlock fans anywhere.

Oscars and TIG; Rupert pics and Fargo; Ben's schedule??

Vids from yesterday: Ben visits Jimmy Kimmel (during Ben's honeymoon!) and talks about The Imitation Game, Alan Turing, and the UK petition (blog post) -- the petition itself is at Pardon49k.org.

For a brief change of pace, have some s3 pics of our Silver Fox on the side.  Moving from Sherlock to Fargo...

Master post: all setlock.

Setlock master post for s3: filmed in 2013.

Setlock master post for the s4 Christmas special: filmed 2015 -- now all of that setlock is posted yet, so have patience.

-- ETA 9-Sept-15:  Well, the s4 setlock is all posted, but it's not all listed here.  Hence the setlock tag.  Will try to update when I can!

Setlock master post, rest of s4: filming planned for late 2015... but how likely is that??

(FYI:  No setlock posts for s2; I began this blog after that aired in the States.)

Setlock master post: S4 one-off.

The Christmas special (episode name still unknown to us), AKA the SHSpesh on Twitter.

During the long hiatus between Sherlock series 4 airing and now, or the short hiatus before we get the one-off, if you find you long for setlock...

The quick way:  my setlock tag will lead you to all my setlock posts.

The one-off special was filmed 6-Jan. through 10-Feb. of 2015.

Ben and Sophie: Valentine wedding!

Cumberbuddy's tumblr link to the ABC interview.  FYI: interview is NOT about the wedding.

Awww, I didn't know until the Interweb told me so: Ben and Sophie got married on Valentine's Day.

Sooooo adorable!

HuffPo's brief piece: Benedict Cumberbatch Marries Sophie Hunter.  Us Weekly has a longer article, but they don't mention that Tom Hiddleston attended.  Allegedly.  In case you were wondering.  :D

The Daily Mail had some fun with what (little) they knew of the guest list... or possibly they were desperate, as Amanda completely denied their claim that Martin was Ben's best man.

I think MTV wins for the best secondary headline however, for their little PSA-style article.
"Valentine's Day is even more special today."
Indeed so!

Friday, February 13, 2015

How is there more setlock??

This setlock is all from 7-Feb. through 9-Feb.  (Despite 10-Feb. being the final day of setlock, errr, outdoor filming.)

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Filming wraps on SH special!

Does this mean no more filming at all?  Possibly.  They're moving indoors, as far as we know -- or they ARE done filming.  Setlock's done for ShSpesh.

So you'll have to go through the many pictures, videos, blog posts, and so on.  Should be plenty!

No cast pictures today, but there's weeks of 'em.

Mild spoilers about the ep's theme from Sherlockology.  (I love Douglas's reply to Arwel's Tweet.)

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Setlock: London wrap.

The setlock tag at londonophile's tumblr.

Remember that random spoilers have been pretty serious for over a week:  be wary what you click on!

Sunday, February 8, 2015

Setlock: final weekend.

The marvelous Ruther2 has made Part 6 of his setlock storify.  Because he's just that wicked awesome.  But--

Warning! he's marked these as Sherlock spoilers... which really makes me suspect that the spoiler level is MUCH HIGHER than previous setlock (i.e., setlock from 30-Jan. and 31-Jan.).

Saturday, February 7, 2015

Setlock... with NGS safelock.

BAFTA 2015; Sherlocked in UK.

The BAFTA Awards are this Sunday!  Expect that the Interweb will be full of BAFTA buzz on 8-February-2015.  Radio Times says that Ben, Hiddles, and Martin will attend; Martin's one of the presenters per Digital Spy!

The Imitation Game has 9 BAFTA nominations.  I hope Ben and Team TIG win several BAFTAs!

Apparently since Boyhood's been the favorite of late, that's what people think will win the BAFTAs.  I really hope that it's not the only winner, that would be awful for all the other movies.  Unfair too.

I still haven't seen TIG, but I trust all the folks who've been telling me TIG rocks.  We knew it would rock!

Of course my next favorite would be Eddie in The Theory of Everything because it's about Stephen Hawking, and that also looks incredible -- but I've seen The Grand Budapest Hotel and it's a really bizarre and funny movie.  So that's the order I'm pulling for.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

This week is mostly setlock!

Three Patch Podcast: Spoilercast 24 -- not putting the title here, it's a clear spoiler.  No, really.

Strangely enough, this pic of Sue Vertue doesn't look like a spoiler, despite being setlock [possible safelock?].

It looks like this week's filming is major spoiler time, so be very very careful of whatever you look at, setlock-wise.

Amanda's birthday project; Andrew; eyecandy.

A triad of Cumberbatched moments:  From the Vanity Fair cover...

Safelock, then setlock.

Radio Times offers us the Sherlock's Louise Brealey and Beryl Vertue on 'kind, well-informed and considerate' Setlock fans vid (same vid embedded in post).

Third Star...

Third Star!  At last, I finally got to see it 25-January-15.  Been waiting a long while for TS to be aired in my area.

Lovely movie.  There is sadness, but funnies too.

If you haven't seen it, you may want to skip the movie trailer at Digital Spy.  It has a few spoilers.  I only knew the famous quote, and it's a good one, but you may want to avoid that as well.  Or not.

Note that audience has more affection (and love) for Third Star than critics did; certainly this is true at Rotten Tomatoes, and most 'Batch fans are quite keen on Third Star.  Expect feels!

I really want to see Third Star again, without commercial breaks -- the station broke scenes in really bizarre places.

If you have seen the movie, Roger Ebert wrote a really good review -- very in-depth and with spoilers -- about Third Star and his own father.  Roger has several great pics.

Next dose of setlock.

Steven Moffat on Setlock: “We’re all genuinely very appreciative that people love our show so much” at Radio Times.

Moff talks about setlock fans without rancor -- remember that it was not Team Sherlock saying it ought to be stopped. It was news outlets:  Plain and simple fanbaiting by news outlets.  They wanted our attention.

Direct link to that tumblr here.

CP: Zurich art/spoilers.

Short interruption:  BBC Cabin Pressure was named Best Comedy of the Year by the BGA.  :D

The BGA article about John's awards is here.  I'm afraid I don't know what the third award is for, and the Interweb doesn't seem to be updated on it.  Yet.

Friday, January 23, 2015

TIG nominations; SH fan vid.

I can't keep up.  This is award season.  Just keep an eye out, I know I've missed things.  Ben got nominated for Oscars -- his first! -- for playing Alan Turing.

(Amusingly, the Guardian thinks Ben needs his own category in Alternate Oscars -- at the link's very end.)

The Imitation Game trailer at the Oscars' site is one I haven't seen yet, and it's really good!  TIG's got 8 Oscar nominations... pretty frickin' amazing.  Everyone I talk to recommends TIG.  8)

Fingers crossed for TIG, Ben, and Kiera to sweep the Oscars next month.

Is setlock a set problem?

Martin made the news Monday in bringing up what setlock does to their performances.

His interview at the Independent on hobbits, Cumbermania, and... The Eichmann ShowRadio Times has outtakes here, but do read the full interview for context, please!

I admit that when Sue asked folks during s3 filming to let them film unimpeded, I agreed.  I still do.  Ben has mentioned that when they filmed Hearse, there were times that having fans there was not helpful... when you're doing something dangerous, like they were, you don't want anyone around who isn't part of cast or crew.

S4 setlock continues.

Setlock may appear less often than before.  (The 2014 shoot is only 5 weeks long.)  I'll continue to mask setlock to avoid accidental spoilers.

Remember that when it's from Team Sherlock, any setlock may or may not be masked depending on what it is.  Mark's is here because if you click on the link, then it's a lot easier to almost tell what the image is.  Embedded, it'd be smaller.

And here's the clip from Amanda's interview today about Sherlock and setlock.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

BBC vids, and a little more setlock.

BBC trailers for The Eichmann Show (BBC movie starring Martin) and Mr Selfridge (the TV series Amanda stars in), both from Amanda's TL.

I don't have much setlock, but it does look like filming is being kept under wraps.  If the UK's anything as frigid as the US, this is excellent.  We don't want anyone ill again!

Monday, January 12, 2015

Cumberbomb Mark 2.

Maybe you already saw the new Cumberbomb?  8)  Silvia has the full video version on her tumblr.

I was lucky, I decided to watch the awards and got to see this happen.  As soon as I saw the North Korean spoof-skit go over to Meryl Streep, I could tell exactly what Ben was gonna do.  (Vine slo-mo version in this Tweet.)

Sunday, January 11, 2015

Week 1 setlock: bits 'n' pieces.

This setlock appears to be from Day 1 of filming (I hadn't seen most of these, however.  They may only be on tumblr) from nixxie-fic's tumblr.  I've included the Tweet I found this in, since I had major problems with my browser when I had this screen open originally.

Hawking this weekend!

A brief interruption to your scheduled programming... the BBC's Hawking will air this Saturday, 10-Jan-15, on the Discovery Channel at 10pm.  In the States and also the UK, it looks like.

Ben starred in this 2004 biopic, and it's rather hard to get hold of.

Today is also Stephen Hawking's 73rd birthday.

Day 1 of filming: setlock.

You gotta click the links, kids.

Spoilers are masked throughout this year.  I may have to make a new tag for S4 setlock...

SH special: S4 setlock!

Happy birthday, Sherlock Holmes!  And happy days to fandom, because filming is today.

I'll be collecting pics of S4 setlock here, starting with the Sherlock Special.    They'll be masked in most cases because they are spoilers.

I don't consider certain things to be spoilers, however.  The venues where they're filming.  Official news from the cast and crew.

This week: Filming SH Spesh.

Fandom may be holding its collective breath.

Tuesday, 6-Jan-2015, Team Sherlock will begin filming the Sherlock special.

Not much have news on this, barring the brief piece at KPopStarz yesterday.  I suspect tumblr and Twitter have lots of speculation, however.

Sue Vertue did Tweet about the November readthrough; see Hypable for that and the top hats.  :D

Arwel Tweeted too, but about something else involving the SH Spesh.

Does it count as s4 setlock?  A tease?  You decide.

Cumberbatched moments:  USA Today's article on last night in Palm Springs, where The Imitation Game won the ensemble award.  Ben signing autographs on the red carpet via tumblr.
